The Primary Art School in Habrmanova Street
The Primary Art School in Habrmanova Street, Hradec Králové is an organization run by the City of Hradec Králové. Next year it is going to celebrate its 55th anniversary. The teaching is provided in musical, dancing and art section by 55 teachers to 1400 students in the age of 5 to 30 years.
The students learn how to play piano, keyboard, violin, viola, violoncello, doublebass, guitar, E-guitar and bass guitar, recorder, piccolo, transverse flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, fluegelhorn, waldhorn, trombone, baritone, helicon, tuba, percussion instruments, accordion and organ. There is also a sub-section of solo and choir singing.
The students are members of string, wind as well as guitar orchestras and of a special orchestra called Big Band (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDTkCd_PzTA). Some rock groups and jazz bands are also performing. In addition to this all students are studying the theory of music as an obligatory subject. The School gives regularly concerts, it makes approximately 100 ones in a year. The students show considerable skills in recording so that the orchestras have several CDs of their own. The orchestras are performing also abroad, in Germany and in Poland before all. In 2006 the children´s choir Jitro represented our School very successfully during the Olympiad in singing in China http://www.jitro.cz/. A dancing section with 120 students belongs to our School, too. The students are learning the classical ballet technique as well as the modern and folk dances. A group of majorettes cooperates with the wind orchestra when celebrating special anniversaries of our City. The dance develops the motion expression of the students, intensifies their special and musical feelings and supports their creative abilities. Through dance the students are able to express besides the modern and classical music their own ideas. The classical dance technique makes the body bearing perfect, improves the motion coordination, balance and the sense for accurate form as well as the shaping of movement, strengthens the self-discipline, fortitude and will.
The School owns also the art section with 360 students who attend lessons of painting, drawing, ceramics, wood-carving, graphics and computer graphics. This section organizes regular expositions representing the wide range of the taught techniques. Educating in the art section involves two lines. On the one hand supports art perception and expression of the students, their aesthetic feeling and creative dispositions, on the other hand it develops the ability of general self-cognition and evaluation of aesthetic values. Our school-leavers have the possibility to continue the studying at Conservatories, Pedagogic Faculties and at other schools with art orientation.
